For the sown option letters are slid onto the fabric instead of glued on top of the fabric. This process includes the panty having to be resown after the letters are slid in. This results in a spacing halfway between the letters.

For the glued option the letters are glued on top of the fabric and there is no spacing. The glue bonds the letters to the fabric. * in the picture shown the letters are glue bonded*
